PROPERTY OVERVIEW

With its welcoming atmosphere and breath-taking natural scenery, Ireland continues to be known as one of the most desirable places across Europe to live.  On offer here is a chance to invest into this magnificent part of the world with this beautiful house.

Located in the picturesque fishing village of Cleggan, this beautiful house features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room, spacious private garden area, expansive decking area and is surrounded by mesmerising views of the nearby Lough Atalia and Atlantic Ocean in the distance.

Not only is this property a fantastic chance to own a spacious and comfortable home but, thanks to the perfect location, this property also offers a potential venture into the holiday rental market, which is rising rapidly in Ireland thanks to the emergence of direct rental websites such as Airbnb and booking.com.  Cleggan is set right in the heart of Ireland’s breath-taking Wild Atlantic Way and is also a great base from which to explore the many other fascinating places of this beautiful country such as nearby Mayo, Clare and Kerry.  The area is not only close to many areas of stunning natural beauty but is also close to fantastic urban and commercial areas such as Galway City and Limerick City.  Dublin, Ireland’s iconic capital, is roughly 3.5 hours away by car. This really is an area that has the potential to attract tourists from all over the world looking to sample some of Ireland’s fascinating and unique culture.

Sports and Leisure fans will not be disappointed either as the area is surrounded by many excellent walking, cycling and fishing areas as well as being near to many GAA, Soccer and Rugby Clubs.  Golf fans will also be he happy here as the property is close to many of Ireland’s fantastic courses such as Connemara Championship Golf Links (17 miles away).

The area is also very well-connected transport wise on the ground, via sea (being so close to the coast) and in the air, this of course provides another massive plus point in the context of holiday rental and commuter markets.  The nearest international airport is  Ireland West Knock Airport, which is roughly 70 miles away.

ABOUT THE AREA

The fishing village of Cleggan is located on the northern side of the Aughrus Peninsula, at the head of Cleggan Bay. The pier, which was built by Alexander Nimmo in 1822 and later extended, is the site of much fishing and boating activity and is also the ferry port for Inishbofin Island. Several privately owned car parks are in operation in the village to cater for visitors to the island.

A lively music scene can be experienced in the village’s four bars, as well as the very freshest fish and seafood. A number of beautiful beaches dot the coastline between Cleggan and Claddaghduff all the way around the peninsula, including Sallerna and Rossadillisk. Pony trekking and fishing are also popular activities, and the surrounding area boasts many sites of archaeological interest, including tombs, standing stones and walls.

WIDER GALWAY AREA

Arty, bohemian Galway (Gaillimh) is one of Ireland's most engaging cities. Brightly painted pubs heave with live music, while restaurants and cafes offer front-row seats for observing buskers and street theatre. Remnants of the medieval town walls lie between shops selling handcrafted Claddagh rings, books and musical instruments, bridges arch over the salmon-stuffed River Corrib, and a long promenade leads to the seaside suburb of Salthill, on Galway Bay, the source of the area's famous oysters.

While it's steeped in history, the city buzzes with a contemporary vibe, thanks in part to students, who make up around a fifth of the population. Its energy and creativity have seen it designated a European Capital of Culture for 2020.
