Los Alcazares has lots to do entertainment wise, from the many bars and restaurants to mini golf and spa, you are also close to the many golf courses in the area. The beach is vast and clean and has a beautiful promenade to walk down with exercise equipment and play areas for children and of course the beach bars (chiringuito's). The promenade must stretch 6/7 kilometres. The airport is a 20 minutes’ drive and the beautiful city's off Cartagena and Murcia are close and so are several shopping centres.

About the area

Due to its 7km of golden sandy beaches skirting the warm, non-tidal, shallow waters of the Mar Menor, Los Alcazares has become one of the most popular beach resorts with families on the Costa Calida. It is just 6km from the airport at San Javier and its central location on the interior coastline of the Mar Menor with easy access to the motorway network make it perfect for exploring the whole Murcia region and beyond.

Through a program of carefully considered, low rise development Los Alcazares has grown significantly during the last 12 years whilst managing to retain its small, traditional Spanish town charm.

It has 2 distinct areas which are often described as “The New Town" and “The Old Town." In reality, both offer a mixture of old and new properties and seamlessly mix modern facilities with traditional charm.

The original centre of Los Alcazares or “Old Town" has modern high street shops, small specialist boutiques, traditional Spanish tapas restaurants and a beautifully quaint marina.

The more recently developed Los Narejos area or “New Town" was purpose built around 12 years ago to attract tourists and has since been further developed due to the resort's increasing popularity. Here you will find the 525 square which is a 500m long pedestrianised plaza leading from the main N332 road at the top right down to the beach at its lower end. The plaza offers a great choice of family friendly bars, stylish shops and modern international restaurants all offering “al fresco" dining throughout the year. Its, café bars, ice cream parlours, market stalls and street vendors offering hand-made gifts, henna tattoos, hair braiding and children's ride on animals for hire also make it ideal for a family stroll on a warm Summer evening.

The beachfront has a wide, pedestrianised promenade with street lighting that runs the full 7km from the old town marina, to just South of the airport at it most Northern point. This makes it ideal for cycling, jogging or just an evening stroll. There are beautiful, traditional Spanish, beach-front properties, sailing clubs, beach bars (Chiriguitos) and the occasional children's play park dotted along its length. The distinct lack of loud music bars and tacky gift shops means this beautiful sea front promenade has retained its relaxed family feel which is the main draw for many tourists to this area.

Venture further away from the town and you will find an area dedicated to late night music and disco bars, a modern shopping indoor shopping centre with multi-screen cinema and arcade. In addition, the town also hosts Summer fun fair, a circus, and an evening market during July and August. So, whilst much lower key than some other Spanish resorts and still predominantly geared towards families, Los Alcazares still offers plenty to do for all ages.

Property prices in Los Alcazares have started to increase now which is due to the resorts increasing popularity. However, there is still plenty of land available in this area and we are now seeing several new, modern, high quality developments being built with both detached villas and apartments available at very good prices.
